Making plans to return to US

I am returning to the US in Sept. for my nephew/Godson Jeremy Kelsch´s marriage to Britta. I wouldn´t miss their wedding for the world. When I go back it will be to stay. I bought my tickets with just enough time to make it to the wedding but then Linda told me that our community is having our first leadership selections process Sept 12 with Province Assembly that same weekend........and it´s the weekend for our second Saturday group (a group of friends that have been getting together monthly for over 10 years.) I can´t miss out on all of that so will have to change my tickets.

As I´m thinking about leaving, I realize that time is flying. I am now wanting to see all kinds of places that I wasn´t motivated to act on before. There is a US based organization in Eastern Guatemala where they make prosthesis for people with amputations. I learned of the place before I came down here but it seemed so far away from Tapachula. Now I´m thinking it is much closer than if I went from the US! So, this week I will be traveling across Guatemala to see ROMP in Zacapa, Guatemala. It is near the Honduras border so I also plan to see the Ruins in Copan, Honduras. I am looking forward to the adventure of traveling alone. I did a trial run last Sunday, crossing the border, talking with the money changers, immigrations officials and taking every form of transportation (Greyhound style bus, school bus, van and the back of a pickup!) It was exciting and got me wanting to really do this trip. One last blast!

Dunya Cope, a volunteer from Annunciation House in El Paso, is coming August 27 for a few days. Traveling with her will give me a chance to go to the shelter in Arriaga again and say my good byes there. Fr Heyman, the parish priest in Arriaga said he could take us to the next shelter on the immigrants route also. I would have loved to have followed the whole route of the immigrants across Mx......but, that will have to wait for another day :)

I am so looking forward to being home again and so NOT looking forward to leaving here. I am trying to think of ways that I can say goodbye and express my appreciation. I´m working with the idea of making a photo album for Olga and Jordan--I´ve been staying with them and it is Olga´s shelter. For the folks at the shelter I don´t know. Maybe a photo of myself with each one of them. Possibly my last day with them I´ll get a video and popcorn. They like to watch videos but the range of interests is BROAD----from Rambo style to romatic telenovelas.........so, I don´t know if I´ll go very far with that.

Take care all, I´ll try to send fotos when I get back from Guatemala
Blessings
